This is a plump DK weight yarn with excellent memory.

With 11 WPI yielding approximately 230 yards and 100g.

20 sts 30 rows on 4.5mm needles / US 7 (achieved using bamboo DPN's) is a gauge I received that was quite nice.

For the crochet swatch I used a 4.5mm hook as well.

More about the yarn:

This wool was grown on the Barheid Ranch in Alberta. This ranch focuses on meat production. Barb and her daughter used to own the Willow N' Wool yarn shop in Airdrie. They didn't want to see the wool go to waste, so they sent their fleeces off to Carstairs to be processed into yarn.

This past winter Barb asked if I would like to buy the remaining yarn they had. Of course! I could not say no.

The average staple length of the fibres is about 4 inches.  It is creamy white when washed. The wool is extremely springy, lofty and with plenty of personality It feels soft and luxurious against the skin when worked up into a fabric.

"Clun Forest sheep are a local breed of the upland hill country between England and Wales. The first flock was imported into Nova Scotia, Canada in the 1970's. They are easy keepers, hardy and able to fend for themselves under harsh conditions, while still producing good lambs."
